ABOUT US
Heartattack and Vine was started by a team of four people: Jono Hill and Hootan Heydari (the pair behind previous cafés a minor place and Wide Open Road), and Emily Bitto and Nathen Doyle. After 3 years of trade (2018), both Jono and Hootan decided to focus on their other creative endeavours, selling their portions of the business to Heartattack And Vine’s long standing General Manager, Matt Roberts.
The initial idea grew out of a trip that Emily and Hootan made to Italy and Spain in 2014, where they fell in love with the simplicity and hospitality of the many small neighbourhood bars they hung out in. Heartattack and Vine is based on this model of the classic European neighbourhood bar/café, open day and night, where things are kept simple and the focus is on warmth, hospitality, friendliness and quality. What we have added to this model is the experience we bring in specialty coffee. Heartattack and Vine is the only place in Melbourne serving specialty coffee from 8am until 10pm Monday To Saturday.
In keeping with its European roots, Heartattack and Vine offers simple breakfasts, hearty lunches, and long relaxed evenings of drinking and snacking. Our night menu is based around cicchetti (a Venetian style of bar food, similar to tapas, but with its own distinct dishes and flavours), and is perfect for grazing, sharing or feasting. At Heartattack you will always feel at home, whether you are on a hot date, having a solo drink at the long bar, or maybe grazing for hours with friends at one of the communal tables.
